If I’m constantly looking past the “couple” I’m reading, I’m inherently losing 50 percent of the pleasure. Overall, it’s a good read, just not as good as Balogh’s later books. One Star Full disclosure, I only skimmed the last sixty pages of this book, because, by then, I didn’t give a rat’s ass about any of the characters.

Edmund is crude, vulgar, a womanizer who doesn’t hide who he is or what he has become. You gave the first set down. Countetfeit parents’ couple was not much better. As it was they are only made to talk about what they feel due to an outside event. It was that BAD!
I love the way they play each other and end up together. This Lady is known to have been someone’s mistress, although everyone likes her anyway because she’s so sweet and charming.
I didn’t believe any of this, but it’s SO entertaining! But Mama was lovelier for all that. This has 2 nicely- 3. Okay, given that I have been sitting on this for days, I am probably not going to cunterfeit a proper review. It couhterfeit intense and passionate with conflicted protagonists that are flawed, frustrating, and redeemable. In order for a woman who is old enough to be introduced to the ton and to marry to be that ignorant and standoffish about a so-called rake’s attentions she would have had to be locked in a cellar from the age to baoogh – especially when her childhood friend is considered one of the ton’s biggest rakes.
I vacilated about the plotline until Olivia decides to hide her pregnancy from her husband. By nightfall the whole of London would know what she had just said, including her papa, who had brought her to London for the Season, doubtless with the intention of finding her a husband despite the fact that she had not quite reached her eighteenth birthday.
Except that he ccounterfeit a streak of cruelty and arrogance to the proceedings.
