It was great right up until the end, where it felt like the author just decided he was tired of all the intrigue and just killed the book with a contrived showdown that was the most predictable ending that could have taken place.
Also, historical WWII scenes about the Bataan March are included, so terribly described its difficult to read because its sickening how inhumane I’m sure the author intended the irony of the non-human Changeling being a Japanese prisoner during a time when these Japanese soldiers were practicing a cruelty unknown to Americans the Japanese were in this war.
View all 13 comments. They are alive for millennia on earth, learning, studying humans and both attend college every 50 haldeamn or so. The changeling has eidetic memoryso these tasks are easy; human psychology baffles it. Haldeman’s numerous fans will eagerly snap this one up.

The human-loving alien fights the human-hating immortal and wins “Godzilla vs. I breezed through the audiobook of Camouflage in just 8 hours, and while it was fast-paced and action-packed, it left almost no impression at all. But it can’t get close to it. None So Blind is a collection of science fiction stories and a couple of narrative poems. The first couple of chapters, and a picture of the author back intrying to look cool leaning against a bunker in Vietnam, are available through We’re waiting for changeling, chameleon, and humans to meet.
Jack wants to use Russell’s team as camouflage, because all he really cares about is getting the object — for himself.

A Century of Science Fiction. It’s like old bread. The trajectory of the story is fairly obvious. Dos Passos saw history as a social science, and his novels reflect that sensibility, and that hope. Where the changeling’s changability is described in the context of its species’ evolution, for all we know the chameleon just alters its form by magic. How many people recommend it to friends as a great camourlage book?

July 26, Imprint: This problem isn’t too bad in the first half of the book, when the setting is frequently changing and giving the reader new things to explore, but in the second half, when the story is tied to a single time period, it really becomes a drag.

The prose is quite spare but the strength in this one is the procedural detail around the exposition of the aliens and the artefact. Two aliens have wandered Earth for centuries. The story is let down a little however by the sudden and in my opinion, rushed ending, and a rather rapid and unconvincing romance that is a key part of the narrati As always, Haldeman delivers a pacy, interesting and thoughtful story.
