Obviously reading books is a great way to continue to improve a second language after you have reached a basic level of literacy, and I have seen a number of recommendations on here about reading things like Harry Potter in Spanish, but does anyone have any recommendations zafom books actually written in Spanish, rather than translations of Rhiz books? I want something along the lines of what I might pick up to read on a plane in English – fun and light to read, maybe aimed at teenagers, or the kind of thing mesianoche is primarily aimed at children but can be enjoyed by adults.
I can think of plenty of books like that in English, including some that have been translated into Spanish, but my experience in learning a descagar language previously is that not only are translations not always the most natural use of the target language, also just for me personally, I am more motivated to read something that I couldn’t have read in English, or ep least not in its original state.
They are sometimes referred to as a “trilogy,” but they are not. They are three completely independent stories. The reason for the reference is that they are the only three books he wrote for specifically for “young adults,” although as he writes in the introduction, they can be enjoyed by anyone from He also notes in the introduction they were the kind of books he wished he could have read as a young adult.
I’m almost 70 and I agree with him completely. I just loved them!! And you find yourself so caught up in the story, you forget to look up words and just pick up meanings, grammar, etc.
They’re available on Amazon — or wherever Spanish books are sold. Here’s a list on GoodReads http: Le read part of La ciudad de los bestias YA but I didn’t enjoy it as much as another book by Allende for adults. I’ve read her books can be a bit hit or miss. A year or 2 ago I read Cuentos de la selva for a reading group; it’s a collection of short stories for children but I wouldn’t call it the lightest read.
You can find those stories online. I agree, “La ciudad de los bestias” by Isabel Allende is also quite accessible and written for young adults; and I didn’t find it as enjoyable as Zafon’s books.
That list on Goodreads is especially interesting. I guess the original was written in Spanglish, but I picked up the full Spanish version because it was a relatively short read for my ruuz Spanish book. Maybe you can read El aleph by Borges.
It is a classic book. It contains several great, smart, beautiful short stories. And you descwrgar learn a lot of vocabulary. Another book is Las Batallas en el Desierto by Pacheco. It is a book about a platonic first love and about loss. Maybe you are right.
And ruzi you buy the English edition too you will not have necessity of a dictionary. I will second this. It is a very good first book choice! Beautiful color illustrations original by author are also very nice. Robert Lawrence Stein’s collection of over 60 books, as well as their television series versions are just purrr-fect!
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a legitimate Spanish language source for free copies of the Goosebumps material. By searching Spanish Google I found the following:. None of the links I checked contained legitimate copies. There is however, A Facebook page for sharing copies of his books. I know nothing about it. Feel free to use your favorite search engine for “pesadillas rl stine descargar pdf” or epub or gratis.
It seems to me the Spanish language versions need to be purchased individually for exorbitant prices. If anyone can find a better source for the Spanish language version of the books, please-oh-please let me know! If you would like to read online, these stories for children might do, although they are not all originally in Spanish. They are pretty easy, and so should be good “fluency” practice. A recent e-mail from readlang mentioned them while discussing new features on the site.
If you haven’t tried readlang, you might give it a shot–it can be useful when reading online. It wasn’t super but was enjoyable, with the first couple of chapters being the weakest, and there are two sequels, which I plan to read–already have them in Spanish, so now all that’s necessary is to work hard on my Spanish.
My wife read in English I.
Allende’s novel about Zorro and enjoyed it, so you might try that. Sorry, link didn’t take me to the earlier discussion, just to MY subscriptions page. Could you try updating the link for me? This might be it https: Recommendations for Spanish books tammaiya 19 17 9 8 6 2. Hi all, Obviously reading books is a great way to continue to improve a second language after you have reached a basic level of literacy, and I have seen a number of recommendations on here about reading things like Harry Potter in Spanish, but does anyone have any recommendations for books actually written in Spanish, rather than translations of English books?
I loved reading these three as my first books: Hope you enjoy them as much as I did! VeeDrawStuff 25 22 12 6 4. I agree as well that I wouldn’t call “Cuentos de la selva” the lightest read!
Thanks for reminding me of this book! The price had gone down, so Medianochw just ordered myself a meianoche.
Surprisingly La Reina del Sur was not originally written in Spanish. Great recommendations, but a little tough for a “first book,” I think. What a perfect suggestion!!
