It was performed near the sanctum sanctorum of the Guruvayur Temple. As a student of the guru, Melpathur Bhattithiri took the disease upon himself as part of Guru Guruvayoorapapn. Poonthanam Namboodiri was a humble devotee of Lord Guruvayurappan. Areas with water appeared to him as dry land whereas dry areas appeared as full of water. The funny scene created by Duryodhana generated uncontrollable laughter in Draupadi and Bhima gruvayoorappan Krishna encouraged on the sly by his sidelong glances.

Both were accepted with equal satisfaction by Krishna who blessed both of them. Krishna was about to have another helping of the flattened rice but Rukmini held his hand saying that one handful was enough to make Kuchela more than a millionaire. Poonthanam went home and wept bitterly before the Lord. O Lord of Grurvayoor! Once, a poor little boy could not get even a morsel of food to appease his hunger, and stole a banana from a nearby fruit shop. While above Guruvayur he smiled at the pompousness and vividity of the procession of Sreebhootha Bali feeding celestial attendants and tried to pass the temple without making any obeisance to the Lord.

Kuchela felt shy of giving such an insignificant thing as a fistful of flattened rice to Krishna but Krishna himself snatched it from him and put a handful of flattened rice into his mouth and greatly enjoyed it. Then Krishna, seeing the gopas went to them and eagerly met with the gopis whose bodies had become wafer thin as they were pining in separation from Krishna. O Lord of such greatness!

Once an old Brahmin with severe stomach ache approached Villwamangalam for relief. The Brahmin said that he could not eat any food because of his stomach ache, which even Villwamangalam could not cure. Unni went outside and brought some salted mangoes and curd from neighborhood in the belief that the Lord like food this way.

Bhattathiri concludes this dasaka with the following sloka: When the Sun turned North he gave up his mortal body and merged in Brahman, all the guruvayoora;pan seeing before his very eyes the Your captivating form.

Another is Annaprasanam, or the first feeding ceremony of the child. Devotees started chanting the name of the Lord and struggled to collect the flower from the garland. To keep the reminiscence of this unusual event, the elephant race aanayottam is conducted every year and this marks the beginning of the Guruvayur Utsavam. The second time, he was born to Kashyapa and Aditi and took form as the avatara of Vamana.

The Chennas Namboodiris are the hereditary Tantri of Guruvayoor temple. The privilege of bringing the tender-coconuts was conferred on the descendants of that family. On Arattu day, the Utsava vigraha will be taken out and tender coconut water abhishekam pouring of coconut water over the idol will be done.

The Lord was always partial to Kururamma. To their astonishment each and every coconut in the sack had horns!
